I remember fondly reaping the rewards of pressure-cooker prepared foods as a child, and I was always too chicken to buy a cumbersome old-school model. My husband gave in to my whining and purchased this model from QVC, and I counted the days until it's delivery! I am not great at reading directions when I am in a hurry to try a new gadget, so I read as many reviews as possible while this pressure cooker was in transit. I have to say that I began to worry a bit when I read so many negative reviews, but the truth is, I would never take literally the review of someone who doesn't carefully read their instructions. OPERATOR ERROR is no grounds for complaint. The unit arrived late in the afternoon and after following the quick and easy "Set up prior to FIRST USE" instructions, I dumped a whole, mostly frozen chicken, 2 pounds of chopped veggies, cooking liquid and seasonings into my new toy. He loves to make me a tester of infomercial products. You always take a risk of buying appliances through a infomercial, this product is no exception. I waited for awhile before writing this review, because I wanted to really use this thing before doing so. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The lid is somewhat difficult to lock down, and pressure will not properly build up. When it did seal, it actually did a pretty good job. It took about 2 to 3 times to get it to seal before it would work. Chicken came out tender. However, it doesn't really brown foods all that well. Then, the digital display flashed a F4 error message. Looking through the instruction manual, it gives absolutely no indication what this is for. So, I placed a call to customer service of Montel (same number as healthmaster) and it was a absolute nightmare. After holding on the phone... It is very easy to use and had noone of the issues with the lid that the other reviewer had. Although some of the directions are not clea..I simply put food & liquid it hte pot, pick a setting (not always sure if I use the correct one) and the food always comes out great. And it is FAST. I can put frozen meat in it and have dinner ready in 30-40 minutes (at most). I loved it so much I bought it for a friend and she loves it too. She said she won't cook without it.
